Heavy rain had hit the community of Cleveland in recent days and the ground was still quite soft from all the rain. It was Friday afternoon and the driver was heading home to rest for one day before continuing to Oklahoma to complete his delivery. However, as he was pulling up alongside of the road, the soft ground caused him to lose traction. His truck slid into a ditch and heavy duty recovery was needed.

Using their 50 ton wrecker, the On Site towing team member completed the recovery job in steps. The first part of the recovery utilized a “pick and swing” technique in order to get the trailer back on the road. The team was able to safely pull the tractor out of the muddy ditch.

Houston heavy duty recovery experts, On Site Towing, recently responded to a call in Cleveland, TX near Highway 99. The dispatcher received a call from a customer who reported that his truck was stuck in a ditch. The driver called the On Site team for heavy duty recovery assistance.
The driver was going home for the weekend and he was planning to rest one day at home before heading out to deliver the load to Oklahoma. However, before he could complete his job, this heavy recovery incident occurred.
According to the driver, he was pulling up alongside the road. However, because of the heavy rain in the area in recent days, the road was extremely wet and slippery. Unfortunately, due the rainy and wet environment, his truck slid into a ditch and heavy duty recovery was needed.
The heavy duty recovery team member from On Site Towing quickly arrived at the scene. Upon arriving, he noticed that there was no police on scene. He proceeded to assess the heavy duty recovery situation.
For the heavy duty recovery, the crew member decided to use a 50-ton heavy duty wrecker. The heavy recovery to place in 2 parts. First, he swung the trailer using a maneuver called a “pick and swing”. The heavy duty recovery operator lifted up the trailer slightly and slid it back over onto the roadway. He then repositioned the wrecker in the front of the truck and pulled the tractor out of the mud.
For this recovery, it was imperative to move the trailer first. This is done to avoid it sliding further into the ditch when pulling the tractor. To complete the heavy recovery, the operator then moved 40,000 lbs of cargo in the sealed trailer.
The entire heavy duty recovery took about 1.5 hours.
