On Site’s car carrier tow team responded to an accident on FM 1960 and Bammel Westfield Road on July 8, 2021. A car hauler was exiting a parking lot when trouble struck! You see, the exit to the parking lot was quite steep. While a passenger vehicle could easily enter and exit, the same couldn’t be said for this car hauler!
The tractor cleared the exit to the parking lot quite easily. Unfortunately, that is where the driver’s good luck ended. As the tractor straightened out onto the road, the steep angle of the exit point caused the trailer to begin dragging on the ground. As the angle increased, the tractor began to lose forward momentum quickly.
With the trailer now making contact with the ground, the front wheels of the tractor began to lift off of the ground! The tractor was blocking two lanes of traffic and the poor driver could neither move forwards or backwards.
Our team was On Site (see what we did there?) within the hour. After a thorough assessment, we knew that the best course of action was to pull the car carrier back into the parking lot. From there, the car carrier could take another, less steep, exit. If we would have pulled it forwards, we would have put too much pressure on the trailer’s king pin.
The car hauler tow team lifted the back of the trailer into the air. This allowed the tractor’s wheels to go back onto the ground. With the tractor’s wheels back on the ground and On Site’s tow truck supporting the trailer, the driver was able to back into the parking lot.
We would like to extend a special thank you to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. They helped guide traffic so our team could work safely. Thank you!
The presence of a car carrier tow team was requested at FM 1960 and Bammel Westfield Road in the northside of Houston, TX. A car carrier tow team was dispatched from On Site Towing – Cars, Heavy Duty & Semi Truck Towing, 7311 Charpiot Ln, Humble, TX 77396, United States.
The car carrier tow team made the 15 mile drive and arrived at the customer’s location. Once on scene, the car carrier tow team was able to assess the situation and come up with a plan of action.
Using their 25-ton wrecker, the car hauler tow team lifted the back of the car carrier trailer. This allowed the tractor’s wheels to slowly be lowered back onto the ground. With the truck on the ground, the car carrier towing team put it in neutral and released the brakes.
The Houston heavy towing team then pulled the tractor trailer back into the parking lot. This cleared the road as the tractor was blocking 2 lanes of traffic! The car hauler tow team’s job was done and they made their way back to headquarters to await another job.
